Review Modify Spring S100+ - cm036 & cm042s, Downgrade spring to make aeg field legal

spec's: Manufacture rates this spring to give you a FPS of 350 FPS and is made out of piano wire.
Note: Results may very from AEG to AEG and also over time as spring settles in.
Reason for the upgrade: The reason I replace the spring in the AEG was that some of the Dboy's, Jing gong, Cyma AEGs shoot way over the limits which is allowed (400FPS with .20gBB's or 1.49 joules) ,this is happening more and more with the Chinese clones and re branded AEG's.As a rule the AEG's that shoot on 400fps will settle under the 400fps after abut 10000 bb's this will drop between 30 to 70 fps.

The AEG that was down grade to shoot at a lower FPS is the CYMA CM036 (AKM), This AEG was shot over a chronograph with .20g Echo1 bb's and a total BB's shot were 50rds ,the highest fps was 455fps and the lowest was 442fps.Also this AEG has never been serviced since owning it(1yr).

Before doing the test I did a full service, cleaned out all the old grease and regreased the AEG. I replaced the stock spring with a Modify AEG Spring S100+.After the reassmebly of the AEG I test the Cyma cm036 (AKM)
use sing 2 different brands of .20g BB's( Echo1 .020g and a cheap galaxcy Brand of .20g BB's) and doing the same test of 50 BB's shot.

Results:
The Cyma AEG shot at the highest FPS of 389fps and the lowest of 384 fps using the Echo1 BB's and the Galaxy brand the highest fps was 388 fps the lowest of 382fps. So the results shows that the spring has dropped the fps into the limits to be used in games and more constant shots over the crono this make the aeg more accurate, it also increase the life of the aeg.

Conclusion:
I am happy with the purchase.

ADDED INFOMATION:

I downgraded another new Cyma CM042 (AK47S) that shot at 460FPS and 450FPS ,after servicing the AEG and installing the same spring in to the AEG it has given the similar result ,it shot at between 390fps to 384 fps.

alakdan about how long did it take you to run the AEG in with that spring?

To be exact komrad m76, i bought the S120+ spring with Modify spring guide(bearing) last May 12, 2006 and install immediately to my AK, i played that gun once or twice in every Saturday games.





ps: do you have some action pics can be posted here komrad,if you may.

Modify are rebrands or i think of the same cmpany as guarder. Iv'e seen them in almost the same packaging here in the U.S. They are pretty decent and i make them substitute for guarder parts if not available.

I have also downgraded a lot of dboys and cymas here. Cymas by far are notorious for the highest rated fps aegs. LOL! They used short stroked spring with an m130 rate.

Also from what i've noticed somewhat the cylinderhead and nozzle they use on a stock cylinder is a little bigger than standard comparable to bore ups. (kya malakas!)

Updated: CM042s ,after installing the Modify spring and use sing the CM042 for a few games ,I found that the CM042 tend to shoot not very accurate so , I installed a new TB6.04mm barrel and a new Hop up (MADBULL Blue one) the test were done using a .20g BB's and 150 BB's were shot , there was a marked improvement in accuracy, compared to the stock barrel also the fps was very stable average fps 388, 80% of the shots count stay on the 388fps as recorded by the crony 11% shot out at 387fps and the other 9% was divided between the lowest was 386fps and highest was at 391fps.

It seem the Tight Bore in this case did not give a major increase in FPS but between the new hop up and barrel there was a marked improvement in stablty of the shots shot.

thanks for the replys ,Here in South Africa we have made a choice , not AEG to shoot over 400fps usesing .20g and sniper rifles at 550FPS using .20g.
The AEG may not shoot hard and use a heaver bb to bring it down down to shoot at 400fps. the same goes for the rifles. so it does not matter what mods you do the limit is 400fps or 1.5joules. I like my aegs to shoot around about 385fps to 390fps, We also fined it levels the playing field for all player, so it does matter if you use a high end or maeg or a shot gun or pistol, it 's your skill that counts in the end.
