The master's hybrid AK post over at ACMgames finally got me going on a pending project to make the JG spets a bit more realistic looking
here's a progress report: 1) the rear sight trunnion was chopped to accomodate the longer upper handguard from the JG AK Tactical. red lines in pic below show where the receiver was cut ![]() 2) the upper handguard retainer was replaced by a custom substitute to ensure better structural strength without the usual metal bar in the fake gas tube ![]() 3) a custom gas block was made from pieces of the JG spets and the CYMA 031 ![]() 4) the short spets outer barrel was lengthened with a discard from a previous AR-SF project ![]() here's the 1st mock up to check how the various pieces go together ![]() looks believable enough to be seen in Eyerak nowadays, don't you think, komrads? there's something like this, iirc, in kom kamatay's latest post. work to be done includes an overfolding stock and piston short stroking. when finished, it will be the Spets Kappa (for Kalsador) Urgan Warrior in honor of Komrad Yarik, the first and only, so far, filAKas kalsador.

time for an update. overfolding stock and gas tube cover now done, so here are pics of the first stock mock up.
view from front quarter left ![]() from the rear quarter right ![]() from right behind the stock mounting plate (imagine no duct tape, please ![]() and here's the stock deployed seen from the left ![]() the main components of the epoxy-filled aluminum stock are: ![]() butt struts (inside red square) stock struts (long horizontal bars) strut cross plate (inside green square) & stock mounting plate (inside blue square) two brass screws fix the aluminum pivot plates (purple arrows) together. hope you still like your contractor AK, kom yarik have decided to go for an X47 style selector, so that's the next item on the mod agenda.

i forgot the gas tube cover. here are close up side and quarter views of the thing.
![]() the cover (adaptation of the Romanian grenade launcher sight) was made from two pieces of aly that were bent, shaped and riveted together. it will be fitted and epoxied to the outer barrel junction.

UPDATE
X47-style selector done and working as imagined the charging handle/bolt carrier was cut as shown in the pic below ![]() then a channel was made for the guide rod with good old steel-filled epoxy and an indent cut into the front so that the selector will lock properly ![]() here's how the charging handle, the guide rod & spring, and the modified battery tray are installed relative to each other. the metal tab sitting in the red box was taken out and the plastic smoothed (again with epoxy) so that the charging handle can slide back & forth easily. ![]() here's the normal safe position. ![]() and the handle lock position ![]() the x47-style selector makes it very easy to select fire mode without taking your right hand off the pistol grip. ![]() ![]() luckily, the gap between the charging handle and the lower edge of the right side stock strut was just right

since the Kalsador is meant as an ROF beng2x the batt tray was also modded to allow batt connection from the rear,
![]() the plastic receiver tabs were chopped, ![]() and the rear sight trunnion walls were shaved to allow batt pass-through ![]() as you can see in the pic below, 41/2 cells of an Intellect 9.6V stick fits in the trunnion and the upper foreguard. using even a 12v stick should not be a problem.
