Cyma Ak-47 Realism Modification, My Upgrades to make my Cyma 028 Ak-47!

Hey everyone,

I've begun buying some cheap parts to make my Cyma 028 Ak-47 much more realistic than it is now. Here it is in it's stock form:



The upgrades I've decided to buy won't cost much more than just $100. I only spent $80 on my gun, so it'll be cheaper than buying the full metal Cyma 042 and I will have a small project that will let me learn more about airsoft guns and how they work:

Here's my list!

1.) Flash Hider: $10

I live in the U.S., so my gun only came with the orange tip affixed to the front of my gun. My gun did not come with the original Ak-47 flash hider, so I have bought a used flash hider from someone on some forums that I usually go to.


2.) Real Wood Kit: $57

Before I buy the Real Wood Kit, i'm going to go to a local Arts and Crafts store near my house and paint my simulated (plastic) wood first, as I will do the wood part last. Instructions on how to do this:

It looks really good! So that's why i'm getting the Real Wood Kit last.


3.) Lower Receiver: $35.90

I've already bought this. I heard that there are some fitting problems that can be solved by filing the metal down, so maybe I might ask for help soon It's coming from China so i'm anxious to receive it in the mail!


4.) Top Cover $22.00

Element Ak-47 Ribbed Top Cover

This top plate is the style that was on the original Ak-47 I believe, from the research i've done. This will be the second-to-last part I buy for my Ak :]


5.) Ak-47 Style Sling $5.95

This is supposedly the Ak-47 style sling that the Soviets used (I hope!) so it'll be pretty cool to have a real sling as opposed to the cheaply made Cyma one that came in the box.

So far i've already bought the FLASH HIDER, and i've ordered the Element Metal Ak-47 Lower Receiver. I hope that eBaybanned isn't a bad site because I plan to order more items. This is a test order to see how well they are with their service. Hopefully today I can begin painting my wood like shown on the site that I linked earlier! Check it out!

So far i've spent $10 + $35.90 = $45.90 on upgrade parts already.

Does any other Komrades have any suggestions to make my Ak-47 more realistic? I'd like to know some weathering techniques. I hope my list has given someone any ideas!
