Light Machine-Gun Kalashnikov, Model 1974


REAL STEEL:
The RPK-74 is a squad automatic weapon or SAW developed by the Kalashnikov Design Bureau of the Soviet Union in 1974. It is a light machine gun that shoots 5.45 x 39 mm M74 ammunition, and is very similar to the AK-74, though with a heavier, longer barrel, a bipod and some differences in the stock and forearm (handguard). The primary manufacterer of this weapon is Vyatskie Polyany Arsenal (Molot) Machine-Building Plant OAO.

AIRSOFT:
Guarder RPK-74 KIT (2004 Limited Edition)

Too much eager to have this Airsoft gun.
The Guarder Kit is already discontinued and no longer available in RWA ( including Unco / WGC / AG ).
But still available locally.
Arrived less than two days of waiting.
Right in my hands, the RPK-74 KIT.

The Kit:

Metal parts. The Laminated Plywood Handguard(upper/lower) and Stock.
Plastic "plum" Handgrip, Front sight with big screw fitted to prevent damaging the "U".
Spare "small parts". Included the charging bolt.

For me, only one part need filing/sanding the lever slot to fit into the selector.


Ahhh...no cover.


The Gearbox "drop" smoothly inside the receiver.


My extra AK74 trigger guard fit exactly without increasing the hole.



The leaf spring so strong and i can't easily put the Rear Sight.


Ops...the lower Handguard won't fit.



A wood file used for this to trim the excess part.

Verdict....

Looking the original price of US$700~900 and the "little" unrealistic designed is not worth to have this. Waste of money!

After several years past, the "Limited Edition" released of "2004 Guarder RPK Kit" surprisingly still available with almost more than 50% off from the original price.
Affordable this time but maybe my RPK is the last and totally no more left.

glad you didn't have to deal with the receiver fitting, kom alakdan. the handguard shaving, though surprising cos it's part of the kit, is peanuts compared to that.

not a complete waste of money, methinks. maybe too costly to have bragging rights? agree however that with a lot of ACM metal AKs available, there's really no point in spending for ino, guarder, and vfc unless you have too much money and am an avid collector. Real Sword, of course, is another matter.

if there were as many Krinkovs are there are now, wouldn't have gotten the guarder myself.
