Khyber Pass Copy From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jump to: navigation, search
A Khyber Pass Copy is a firearm manufactured by cottage gunsmiths in the Khyber Pass region between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
The area has long had a reputation for producing unlicensed, home-made copies of firearms using whatever materials are available- more often than not, railway lines/sleepers, junked motor vehicles, and scrap metal. The quality on such rifles varies- as one might expect- ranging from "As good as a factory-produced example" to "dangerously unsafe", tending towards the latter end of the scale.
The most commonly encountered Khyber Pass Copies are of British military firearms, notably Martini-Henry, Martini-Enfield, and Lee-Enfield rifles, although AK-47 rifles, Webley Revolvers, Tokarev TT-33s, Colt M1911s, and Browning Hi-Powers have also been encountered as Khyber Pass Copies. A "Khyber Pass" Kalashnikov-style rifle usually refers to such a rifle composed of a mishmash of parts from various countries' AK rifles and that is thus unlike any rifle ever produced by a factory or issued by a regular military force. The typical example of a "Khyber Pass AK" is a stamped receiver AKM in 7.62x39 caliber, fitted with the triangular folding stock common to Russian AKS-74 rifles.
The Khyber Pass gunsmiths first acquired examples of the various British service arms during 19th Century British military expeditions in the North-West Frontier, which they used to make their own copies. During World War II, some of the locally organised Irregular Forces were issued Khyber Pass made rifles - partly for financial reasons, and partly because there was concern the troops would steal their rifles and desert if issued higher-quality British or Indian manufactured rifles.

Are they all Cyma AK? CM035 CM031c / d/ or b and CM042? what did you have to mode to make the AEG's fit?
alakdan.net [aka 9th]- 12-31-2008
yeah forgot it...No CM042.
Parts from: CM028+CM031+CM035+CM047D+TM.AK47=Khyber Pass AK So no chopping any of the parts....
The slash tip FH taken from my Hybrid AK...

Awesome job! Really like it! What did you do to the wood to get it that colour? The weathering link never uses stain. The chinese wood is very light in colour. Want to get my CM042S's wood to look like that.
a broken CM.031, in which i don't want to restore it back.
a working CM.035, but fit for this project.
a working TM.AK47, damned i can't take anymore the wobble and the annoying squeak.
I got more here...still checking my inventory, I'll post pics later.
